I am not sure I should comment on that.
TKE, play Deadwood Dick and getting to know many fun people.
COMMENTS: I was only at CA for one year before it closed and
eventually finished my degree at the University of Albuquerque. I
have been living in Tucson for almost 34 years, married for 28 years,
have a daughter in college and a 14 year old son. I recently
retired from Tucson Unified School District where I worked for 33 years
as a middle school math and science teacher and then as a curriculum
coordinator. Although my time at CA was brief, I do remember
Artesia as a place where you had to make your own fun and place of beauty
and serenity. Sorry I missed the previous reunions. I would
love to attend any that may be held in the future.

COMMENTS: Artesia seemed like the end of the world to me. I
soon fell in love with the people and beauty that New Mexico had to
offer. Went on to ENMU after the closing, but due to a very bad car
accident in my 1968 RED VW Beetle, did not finish. I Miss everyone
that I met, will always remember the adventures I had and hold a place in
my heart for NM.

COMMENTS: Although I only spent a few months at C of A, it was my
first extended time away from home in Illinois, and is just loaded with
memories, (especially the night that some students were beaten
while returning from a screening of Easy Rider in Roswell) but it
would be of interest to hear from anyone who remembers me. I will be
writing an article about the current tenant of the campus which will
appear in www.desertexposure.com in November 06.

COMMENTS: Dear Lynne & Cathy -
First, I want to thank you both for your hard work on the C of A Reunion.
I know your efforts are much appreciated by all attendees. I regret
that I won't be able to attend.
As to memories, there are many. The first C of A marathon was special.
As I recall it began just beyond Eagle Draw west of Hope and ended between
4th St. and Roselawn. Seldom do I pass these points that memories don't
return of that event. So many blisters - but what determination and
tenacity was exhibited that day.
The other is the badger capture. I was not a party to the capture,
but I do remember the badger being on display in Bob Finley's biology
lab. It really was a ferocious animal, but no match for the courage of
Glenn Ross and those other dedicated brave biologists. Could they have
been inebriated when they caught it?
Have a wonderful time.

COMMENTS: Lynne -
I'm looking forward to the reunion, & I hope everyone can make it!
Memories:
Several guys piling books on Mike's lap & carrying his wheelchair up
the steps.
In the Spanish lab, having to say 'beeb-beep' before I talked to
students about what they were working on.
Seeing incoming freshman earn 30's & 40's on their writing papers
and watching them raise that grade to 70's & 80's by the end of the
semesterf! And the expressions on faces when students rfealized tht the
rewrite on the paper could earn a high grade ... amazing!
See you in Albuquerque!

COMMENTS: What a great feeling to meet another time to recall the
metoric flash of the College of Artesia years. A unique experience where
students weren't lost in h the crowd and couldn't complain of a distant
faculty.* Where cooperation between departments was taken for granted,
and bonding came naturally. And, of course, for Anna and me, it was our
beginning, too.
Great to see or hear about you all. Our world and country needs your
experience, wisdom and caring. Keep up the spirit.
*(I must admit that in 1966 there was one semester of General Math
101 - when there were 189, more or less, signed up for some easy credit
hours - even had to neet in the main lecture room.)
